Naming Field Devices
Notice that some of the devices in WorksManager have no device names; this is because (while devices are migrated from TCC to WorksManager) device names do not get migrated for all devices. WorksManager displays a warning status if a device does not have a valid name.Â
The moment, however, that Earthworks and Siteworks devices come online in the field, they start reporting to WorksManager directly, and the device name is auto-updated in the application. Again, for legacy machine control devices (e.g., CB4x0), if they are configured to send production/as-built data (.tag files), the device name gets auto-updated in WorksManager (with a time lag of 15 - 30 minutes). Legacy data controllers (e.g., TSC3, Site mobile) that run SCS900 firmware are not ever auto-updated in WorksManager.
If you do not see a name for a device in WorksManager, you can update the device name manually using the Edit device option (the device name in WorksManager should be the same as the name of the device in the field) or, if you can afford to wait for a day/two, most device names will be auto-updated in WorksManager.
