WorksManager Release Notes - Q3 2024

New & Improved

This WorksManager release includes these new features and enhancements:

Features

Download, upload, and delete files from file explorer view for Siteworks/SCS/GCS devices

We presume you liked the file explorer feature we released for the data collectors in the last quarter. We are happy to inform you that we are extending that feature to include download, upload, and delete file options too. This will be available to the legacy machine control and Groundworks devices, as well as to data collectors.

Publish background images to data collectors

You can now publish background images from WorksManager to the Siteworks data collectors in a project. In Project Settings, find the new card for data collectors and upload background image files. Then, you are all set; just sit back and relax, WorksManager will publish these background images to all the Siteworks data collectors in your project.

Refer to this blog article to learn details about the feature and the workflow.

Fixed

This release also includes fixes for reported or discovered cases in which:

View design versions feature is broken

Issue description:

Given a project with active designs

When you select a design, and try to view active/ archived design versions

Then, the functionality is completely broken.

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, when you select a design and click the drop-down, you can view the active design versions. When you click ‘View archived versions’ from the summary panel, you can view the archived design versions. When you select any design version, you can see the design details in the info panel. When you click ‘Hide archived versions’, the archived design versions are hidden.

'EC520-W' devices display model as 'EC520'

Issue description:

Given an account with Earthworks devices

When you select a device of EC520-W model type,

Then, the model is displayed as 'EC520' (instead of 'EC520-W')

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, when you select a device of EC520-W model type, the model in the right summary panel reads 'EC520-W'

VCL design from TBC jumps 3 versions when calibration file changes

Issue description:

Given a project with TBC published VCL designs

When you add/edit/delete the calibration file in the project

Then, the VCL designs in the project jump 3 versions (instead of the 1 version jump).

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, when a calibration file is changed, the VCL design increases by one version only. The same behavior holds good for the other designs added directly from the WorksManager web interface as well.

Earthworks warranty date displays Jan 1, 1970

Issue description:

Given an account with Earthworks devices

When you select an Earthworks device, and the warranty info is unknown

Then, the warranty date displays Jan 1, 1970.

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, when the Earthworks warranty info is unknown, the column will display ‘-’

Firmware upgrade versions are not sorted in any order

Issue description:

Given an account with Earthworks devices running older firmware versions

When you click Upgrade firmware

Then, the available firmware versions list is not sorted in any order.

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, the available firmware versions are sorted in descending order, with the latest firmware version on the top.

Remote access shows amber for non supported devices

Issue description:

Given an account with remote unsupported device models like SPS, R750, custom, etc.

When you select any such device

Then, the remote icon shows in amber color.

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, when there is an unsupported device model, WorksManager will show no icon, and the column will be blank. The remote icon will be displayed in amber color, when the model is supported but the service is not set up in the field device yet. The icon is gray, when the device is offline, and inactive. And it's green when the device is online, active, and ready to take remote control of.

Remote column takes a long time to load, without any feedback on the page.

Issue description:

Given a project with devices

When you select Project > Devices page

Then, the remote column takes a while to load, but the user does not know that it's trying to load, since there is no feedback.

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, when the project device page is selected, the remote icon column header displays a loading icon until the remote icons are loaded fully.

Device model search issue

Issue description:

Given you are in add devices screen, with EC520 displayed as the default model

When you try to search model

Then, the model column continues to display EC520 though the list starts from the top.

Fix: The issue is fixed. Now, the default model will still be EC520. However, when you try to search in the device model column, the field displays ‘Search device model’, and you can search and select the model you want.

Minor enhancements

Open map in a new screen

You can now right click on the map icon of a device in the project or account and open in a new tab. This allows you to view/analyze deeper information about the device in a new page, while keeping your working page active.

Trimble Modus - application header

The header section of the WorksManager product is now fully ‘Trimble Modus Design’ compliant. This includes the hamburger menu on the left most corner of the header, the product name icon/ section, the project name field and the various icons on the right (search, info, navigation) up until the user profile icon. Trimble Modus is a Trimble standard design framework recommended across the products to give a unified and superior user experience to customers using a wide range of products from Trimble.

End User License Agreement (EULA)

As customers, when you login to WorksManager next, you will see a pop-up message that reads ‘End User License Agreement’.  EULA is a requirement from a legal compliance perspective, and every customer is required to accept the agreement before they can continue using the product. For new users of WorksManager, this will be shown at the first time of login.

When you are presented with the terms of use, you need to scroll down fully until the bottom of the agreement which will enable a checkbox for acceptance of the terms, and when you accept, you can click ‘Continue’ to get into the product. This acceptance will be valid for 1 year/ 365 days from the date of acceptance. After that, it expires, and the popup will be displayed again. You will be able to access the 'Terms of Use' anytime from the product down below the Trimble icon in the left main menu along with 'Privacy'.

Note that when you clear your browser cookie, or use a different browser like Safari, Firefox, or use the browser in incognito mode, the popup will show again, and you just need to accept it again.
