WorksManager Release Notes - July 31, 2020
Features
No major features are released in this sprint. However, there are a good number of bug fixes/ enhancements that are deployed. Please have a look!
Bugs
Earthworks sync issue
Background
Traditionally, Earthworks used to sync in designs from across all the projects in TCC, whether relevant or not. Earlier this year, WorksManager designed a fix to restrict an Earthworks device to pull in designs only from projects that the device is part of. However in this implementation, unfortunately, we had two major bugs
Issue 1
Given a project is created in WorksManager
When user syncs project data from/ to TCC via TCC Explorer or Office Synchronizer tools
Then, system threw an error
Reason: As part of the initial implementation, WorksManager restricted sync access of that project to only ‘Administrators’ of the TCC org.
Fix: This is fixed now. Now, any existing TCC user can continue to use their credentials to sync data back and forth with TCC using TCC Explorer/ Office Synchronizer tools.
Issue 2
Given a project is created via WorksManager and a device is removed from the project
When device in the field syncs field data (like recorded points) into TCC
Then, Earthworks device threw sync error
Reason: As part of the initial implementation, WorksManager removed the sync access of the device to that project including field data, the moment the device is removed from WorksManager project. So, when the device had a residual field data that it wanted to sync, the system threw an error.
Fix: This is fixed. Now, when a device gets removed from the WorksManager project, office data gets removed from the device on the next sync (as expected). However, if there is any residual field data in the device, it can sync back to TCC without any issue.
Project data deleted when device removed from project in WM
Issue description:
Given a project is active in WorksManager
When a device is removed from the WorksManager project
Then, WorksManager system deleted the project content in TCC (moved to bin) for that device
This is fixed. Now, when a device gets removed from the WorksManager project, the WorksManager system just archives the content in TCC, and does not delete. This way, while the device gets cleared of project designs/ data on next sync, the project data is still safe and available in TCC cloud. User can access the archived project data from TCC > Trimble Synchronizer Data > <Device folder> > Archived > Projects > <Project folder>
Map shows amber even when device running latest design
Issue description:
Given user publishes design from Trimble Business Center to WorksManager and device in the field syncs with WorksManager/ TCC to pull in the design
When user navigates to WorksManager
Then, project map showed amber even when device was running the latest design
This is fixed. Now, the WorksManager map shows green (as expected) when the device is running the latest design.
Remote access available for non licensed device
Issue description:
Given device is unlicensed in WorksManager
When user navigates to WorksManager device page
Then, remote access functionality was still available
This is fixed. Now, remote access functionality gets disabled when a device is not licensed in WorksManager/ TCC. And gets enabled again when device is assigned a license
Minor enhancements
Access archived project
We released the ‘Archive project’ feature in the previous sprint. Now, you can also navigate through the archived project in WorksManager. While the look and feel remains the same within the project, operations are restricted to view only. This means, you cannot add/ remove a device from the project, add/ remove a design from the project etc. The field data can be accessed specifically from TCC in this path
● Siteworks/ SCS900: Trimble Synchronizer Data > <Device folder> > Archived > Projects > <Archived Project folder>
● Earthworks: Project Library > Archived > Projects > <Archived Project folder>
● GCS900: Trimble Synchronizer Data > <Device folder> > Archived > Projects > <Archived project name-Design name folder(s)>
