Project Setup > Geofence
Can I skip manually adding machines to my WorksManager project(s) and just let the geofence dictate what machines get the files?
Yes, you can. Geofence-based auto device additions perfectly work for Earthworks (v1.8 & above), and Siteworks (v1.03 & above). However, note that geofence-based auto-add does not work for all device types -
Devices running earlier firmware of Earthworks/ Siteworks have to be manually added to a WM project.
For legacy devices, GCS900 relies on tag file information as an indirect way to get a device position. This is not real-time, and positions are available approximately 20-30 minutes later. Tag files are available only for devices that have mapping enabled and synchronizing to the office. GCS900 devices not recording mapping data and syncing to the office will need to be manually added.
For SCS900 devices, we don't get any position information so the auto-add workflow does not work. SCS900 devices should be manually added to a project
My T-10 Tablet is used to manage multiple sites. As I drive to my projects and enter the geofences, then leave again, will my tablet add and delete each project multiple times a day as I drive in and out of projects?
When a licensed and claimed device enters a project boundary, it gets auto-added to the project and pulls in all the designs for that project. However, when it exits a project boundary, it DOES NOT get removed from the project, and all design info will still persist on the device.
Can different projects be created with overlapping boundaries in WorksManager?
Yes, the system allows this today in WorksManager. However, if the project is 3D enabled (to be used in WorksOS), there are certain restrictions.
