WorksManager Setup

  1. What is the ‘Device Name’ in WorksManager? How is it significant?

‘Device Name’ is the name of the device as defined in the machine control box/ data collector. A device identifies the data to be synced from TCC only based on its name. So, it is important that the same name is given, when a device is added to WorksManager/ TCC. Also, note that WorksManager auto-renames an Earthworks or a Siteworks device if the device is sending a different name from the field than the one it is registered with, initially in WM. Again, this works for GCS machine (CB4x0) only if it is configured to send tag files, and this will never work for a legacy data collector (TSC3, TSC2 that runs SCS900).

  1. When creating a project, is there a button to add "ALL" of our company devices, machines, rovers, etc?

No, this workflow is not available today.

  1. Do unlicensed devices remain free to view on the map?

Yes, unlicensed devices will continue to display on the map screen showing the current device status color code. That is free for any number of devices, providing they were claimed while previously licensed. However, you cannot use the Remote feature or send a design to any unlicensed devices.

  1. Is there a way to separate devices out by task, or role e.g., dirt crews, asphalt crews, concrete crews, to better manage data going to the proper crews?

Currently, there is no method of organizing devices into groups. It is on our list of workflow requirements to support in the future.
